Decanter ranks LaFou de Rams among the best Catalan white wines

Inés Salpico, regional editor of Decanter magazine, published in the July issue the results of the Catalan white wine tasting panel. The article presents the evaluations from a blind tasting conducted by three expert judges —Luis Gámiz, Andrew Johnson, and Pierre Mansour— who reviewed a total of 174 wines.

Among the rated wines, LaFou de Rams stands out with a score of 93 points, included in the “highly recommended” category. Based on the panel’s scores, the wine would rank among the top two wines from the DO Terra Alta.

The wine is described as “a golden, honeyed and aromatic wine, with crunchy acidity. Soft fruit, elegant and energetic, dry and very pure. Refined and precise on the finish.”

The tasters also particularly valued “the strong individuality of the best wines, especially those made with local varieties such as macabeo, white garnacha and some expressions of xarel·lo.”
The article highlights “the presence of high-quality white wines not only in Penedès but also in other parts of Catalonia,” and concludes that “Catalan whites are in very good shape.”
