Tim Atkin MW and Fintan Kerr have presented the Catalan Wines Special Report 2026, one of the most respected reports on Catalan wines, featuring a selection of the best wines from the region. In this latest edition, Lafou wines once again have a strong presence.
Lafou de Rams 2021 has been awarded 95 points and included among the “Best Whites”, placing it among the standout white wines of the year. The critics describe it as “ripe, honeyed and fresh, with a gorgeous amount of dry extract and texture, elegant despite its intensity”, highlighting its balance and depth.
Other wines from the winery also received strong scores, including Lafou Els Amelers 2024, with 93 points, described as “a classic expression of Garnacha Blanca, ripe orchard fruits and chamomile… broad and waxy yet persistent, finishing clean”; Lafou El Sender 2022, also with 93 points, noted as “one of the consistently best value for money wines in Catalunya… all juicy fun, brambly fruits, white pepper, anis and sappy herbs… spicy, complex and delicious”; and Lafou de Batea 2021, with 92 points, defined as “deeply smoky and powerful, ripe dark fruit layered with toast, spice and firm tannins”.
These recognitions reinforce Lafou Celler’s vision of an honest interpretation of the Terra Alta landscape, where Garnacha —in its different expressions— becomes a true vehicle of identity and origin.
The presentation of the report, organised by the Associació Vinícola Catalana, took place on May 4th at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site in Barcelona, bringing together wine professionals, press and key opinion leaders in an event that highlighted the diversity and quality of Catalan wines.
