Luis Gutiérrez, Spanish wine reviewer for Wine Advocate (Robert Parker), has released his latest report on Catalan wines. In this selection, he includes three wines from the LaFou winery.
LaFou Els Amelers 2023 and LaFou De Batea 2020 both received 91 points. Of the former, Gutiérrez highlights “notes of Mediterranean herbs, balsamic, with a minty touch,” as well as its “round and smooth profile, with good ripeness and development.” Regarding the Batea, he underlines the blend -mostly garnacha with a small percentage of samsó– and the ageing: 12 months in 300-liter oak barrels and concrete eggs.
LaFou El Sender 2021 was also rated with 90+ points. The critic notes its “dark berry fruit, abundant spice and a medium to full-bodied palate with abundant tannins.”
The current vintage of LaFou de Rams, the 2020, was awarded 94 points in Gutiérrez’s Catalan wine report last year.
