Within the framework of Barcelona Wine Week 2026, five wineries from the D.O. Terra Alta —Bàrbara Forés, Celler Piñol, Edetària, Herència Altés and LaFou Celler— led the tasting-presentation A new look at the legacy: how Terra Alta is reviving its viticulture, a session focused on Garnacha Blanca as an emblematic local variety with a clear potential for ageing.
Moderated by Ruth Troyano, the session fostered a dialogue between tradition and the future through a distinctive tasting of historical vintages (wines with 8, 9 and up to 10 years of evolution), some no longer on the market, showing how time refines these whites and enhances their depth and complexity.
The tasting featured a representative wine from each project: l’Avi Arrufí 2018 (Celler Piñol), LaFou Els Amelers 2017 (LaFou Celler), La Serra Blanc 2017 (Herència Altés), El Quintà 2017 (Bàrbara Forés) and Edetària 2016 in magnum format (Edetària).
Ramon Roqueta presented LaFou Els Amelers 2017, highlighting the richness and diversity of Terra Alta’s soils —with particular emphasis on panal soils— and the aim of making wines where freshness and elegance are central. The winery’s participation is part of a shared approach with the other producers to strengthen the international profile of the Terra Alta – Garnacha Blanca pairing and underline its authenticity and longevity.
The session closed with a forward-looking message: Master of Wine Tim Atkin, among the attendees, pointed to Terra Alta’s Garnacha Blanca as one of the varieties with the greatest potential to stand out in the coming years.
